a dozen soft paper napkins or 7 in. squares of lint
a pair of sharp and clean probe-pointed surgical scissors
some surgical thread or strong cotton
*Vaseline*
*Dettol*
*T.C.P.*, or similar disinfectant
some dry pieces of rough towelling
a covered hot water bottle
an emergency feeding bottle
a few drops of brandy or other spirits
